Oscar Winner Halle Berry Circling Spike Lee-Denzel Washington Remake of Akira Kurosawa Classic

0

EXCLUSIVE C2024 Showbiz411

Halle Berry and Denzel Washington made history in 2002 when they each won Oscars for acting in the lead categories.

Now I’m told Berry is considering joining Washington in Spike Lee’s next project. It’s a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s “High and Low.”

World of Reel was the firs to report this, but I had already confirmed it. (Never sit on your good stuff!) So congrats to them.

Believe it or not, Halle and Denzel have never worked together before despite the twin Oscar wins. But “High and Low” is going to be a Big Deal. Many filmmakers have tried to turn the Japanese classic into an American release, but no one ever got it.

This might be because there are no real female leads in it. To pull this off, one of the main characters will have to be re-imagined for Berry. But what a powerhouse coupling this could be!

And how weirdly ironic — and sad– will it be if Halle wins another Oscar. No Black actress has won the award since her triumph — and that was 22 years ago! How is that even possible? Only 7 have been nominated for Best Actress since Berry’s win!

Kanye West Shouts Out Disgraced Former American Apparel Chief as “Brother” Who Inspired His So-Called Apology

0

Dov Charney is the infamous ex American Apparel. He filed for bankruptcy in 2022, eight years after he was fired from American Apparel over alleged misconduct related to his treatment of women at the firm. He still owes $20 million to New York-based hedge fund Standard General.

Jon Rafman, I told you about in the last few weeks. An artist, Rafman had his art shows in New York cancelled over accusations of sexual misconduct.

These are the guys Kanye West considers his best (Jewish) friends, along with actor Jonah Hill. On Instagram West says these are the 3 people who inspired his so-called apology, which he posted a few weeks in Hebrew that looked like it was written in AI.

There were reports that Charney, who was drummed out of the clothing business, was working for or with West in his Yeezy line. “Dov is our family, I stand by my Jewish friend.”

To say West is disingenuous is an understatement. Let’s forget the lyrics to his new song, “Vultures.”

West is an antisemite who’s hooked up with the worst people imaginable as shields.

Charney is a poor choice, certainly. He’s been sued several times over the last 20 years for sexual harassment by employees. He’s said numerous times that he sees no problem with sexually pursuing his employees, down to the age of 17. He’s now 55.

West is currently having a fire sale on his yeezy.com website — 20 bucks for shoe socks, workout pants, and t shirts.

He’s also getting surly about posts with pictures of his wife naked. See below.

Super Bowl History for Ratings! Chiefs-49ers Beat Last Year, Set a Record with 123.4 Million Across All Platforms

0

It was a Super Super Bowl last might for CBS.

The ratings are in, and the records have been broken.

Last night’s game brought in 123.4 million viewers, way up from last year’s 115 million. And that was already a record!

That number is across all CBS networks. But just on CBS it was 120 million. Exceptional. And CBS says altogether 200 million were watching at some point!

The combination of a great game played by hot teams, Taylor Swift, all the other celebrities, and so on plus Beyonce dropping new music — this Super Bowl was a rare American pageant. The homecoming queen/head cheerleader kissed the homecoming king, football captain. All that was missing was apple pie and a glass of milk!

Now the pressure is on for Kansas City to come back next fall and make it three in a row! Is it possible? Will Taylor and Travis Kelce tie the knot on the 50th yard line?

We can only hope.

Kanye West’s New “Vultures” Produces 0 Singles on iTunes Charts, But Album is Number 2

0

Kanye West’s “Vultures” is producing some weird chart results.

Not a single track has appeared yet on the iTunes top 100 singles. Not one. No one seems to be buying and downloading tracks.

On the other hand, the album itself is number 2 on the iTunes album chart. And West holds down7 of the top 10 streaming songs.

It’s dismaying to think of people learning the lyrics to his hated filled, vulgar songs. It’s not just the antisemitism. But there is no “clean” version of this rap album, just an explicit one.

Fatherhood has not dampened West’s coarseness. Can you imagine his four kids with Kim Kardashian in their Rolls Royce SUV, chanting these words during carpool:

Go, go, go, go
Head so good, she a honor roll
She ride the dick like a carnival
I done did the impossible
Go, go, go, go
Head so good, she a honor roll

How about:

I don’t want your hoes
Young nigga reach all the goals
Let her suck the dick, said she was a pro
If she scrape her teeth, I’ma tell her to go

Rolling Stone Fires Editor in Chief After 2 Years of Blunders and Web Traffic Down 50%

0

A few weeks ago, in December, I heard that Rolling Stone magazine was worried about web traffic.

My first thought was, aren’t we all? Advertising has gone to shit, and Google is doing everything it can to destroy news sites.

Still, Rolling Stone?

Now editor in chief Noah Schactman has been pushed out the door by Gus Wenner, son of founder Jann Wenner. He was there two years. If you look back on sites like semrush for ballpark traffic numbers, you’ll see Rolling Stone has dropped 50% in two years. I sympathize with them. But I don’t employ 100 people who have expense accounts and health insurance.

Traffic was not Schactman’s biggest problem. In his October 23rd editor’s letter he went after Jann Wenner. I wrote that day that Schactman had thrown Wenner under the bus with a tag line that read: “In the wake of our founder’s offensive comments, we’re taking a hard look at where we’ve been and where we’re going.”

I knew immediately where Schactman was going: out the door. Wenner, of course, had bragged to a NY Times reporter that Black and female music artists weren’t articulate enough to be interviewed by him for his new book. With little good will anyway, Wenner was “Cancelled” over night. He was kicked off the board of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His book was buried. No one could stop talking about his huge mistake.

But the worst thing that happened was Rolling Stone, his magazine, kicking him when he was down. Schactman had three choices: the editorial he published, saying nothing, or trying to help Wenner get out of the mess. He went with the first option. Imagine Gus Wenner seeing this in the magazine, about his father. That had to be the final straw.

(I don’t know Noah Schactman. But he did a weird thing when famed TV journalist Barbara Walters died at the end of 2022. On social media, and in the magazine, he kept referring her as his “grandmother.” Walters, however, had no grandchildren. At all. His own grandmother had been Walter’s second husband’s third wife. Barbara Walters might have liked Noah Schactman a lot, but she wasn’t his grandmother._

Schactman came to Rolling Stone from The Daily Beast, where his specialty was politics. Rolling Stone has always had a political bent, and Schactman had published some great pieces.

But Rolling Stone is mostly a music magazine, which I had heard repeatedly Schactman didn’t care about. I was told by sources — and it was evident — he had no interest in the music stars who made Rolling Stone popular over decades. The result has been cover after cover featuring what I would call nitwits, people of no interest or stature who are passing fads.

No one takes Rolling Stone seriously anymore. But that may be because the audience has just moved on. When I was your age — I had to say it — we hung on their every word, waiting for The Rolling Stone Interview with the big stars of the day. That ship sailed 30 or 40 years ago, frankly. I doubt it will ever return.

Robert Kennedy Apologizes for Commercial Exploiting JFK, But It’s Still Pinned to Top of His X Account

0

Robert Kennedy Jr. is a disgraceful person.

After being taken to task by his cousins for a Super Bowl commercial exploiting JFK and the Kennedys he wrote: “I’m so sorry if the Super Bowl advertisement caused anyone in my family pain. The ad was created and aired by the American Values Super PAC without any involvement or approval from my campaign. FEC rules prohibit Super PACs from consulting with me or my staff. I love you all. God bless you.”

And yet, the commercial is still pinned to the top of his Twitter X account. He could have removed it last night. But he didn’t. And he won’t.

He blamed the whole thing on the American Vales Super PAC as if he has no control over what they do.

That’s what happened when another PAC announced that a bunch of celebrities would attend a fundraiser birthday party for Kennedy. Then it turned out none of them had agreed, or would come.

Fighting 4 One America had initially promised a performance from “superstar tenor Andrea Bocelli” along with star-studded “well-wisher guests” Mike Tyson, Dionne Warwick and Martin Sheen at the Jan 22. gathering at Indian Wells, California. But everyone disavowed the party, and it never happened.

This is who Kennedy’s followers want for president? Not only did Bobby Shriver, his cousin, slam him. So did Bobby’s brother, Mark.

Wake up, everyone.

“Murder on the Dance Floor” US Debut on Jimmy Fallon Tonight, Was Written by Songwriter Who Joni Mitchell Said Saved Her Career

0

British pop star Sophie Ellis-Bextor is making her American TV debut tonight on Jimmy Fallon — 20 years late.

Bextor’s “Murder on the Dance Floor” was released in 2001, made a little bit of noise, and went away. Now it’s a hit thanks to the movie “Saltburn” and the crazy naked dance star Barry Keoghan performs to it at the end of the film.

The actual writers of the song (with Bextor) was Gregg Alexander, the leader of the cult hit group, New Radicals. The latter group had two smash hits with “You Gotta Get What You Give” and “Someday We’ll Know.” After those releases in 1998-99, Alexander announced that was it, he was going on to do other things.

Alexander is also well known for writing “The Game of Love” for Carlos Santana and Michelle Shocked (original version with Tina Turner) and the soundtrack to the great John Carney movie, “Begin Again.”

His frequent collaborator is Danielle Brisebois, who was featured on “Archie’s Place” and “Knots Landing” years ago. But Brisebois is foremost a songwriter. Her Natasha Bedingfield hit, “Unwritten,” is hot again thanks to the movie “Anyone But You.”

You see — good songs stand the test of time! “You Gotta Get What You Give” is one of the greatest pop songs ever. Joni Mitchell once said that she loved it so much it encouraged her to not to give up her career in the 1990s. Years later, I introduced her to Alexander at Clive Davis’s pre-Grammy dinner and couldn’t have been more effusive!

When I ran into Gregg last week in LA, he told me that “Murder on the Dance Floor” was actually supposed to be on the famous New Radicals album.

“I made a demo of it,” he said, “with my voice. We were going to do it and then it was put aside. I may release it now that Sophie’s version is a hit all over again!”

And who got murdered on the dance floor, I asked? “Hopefully, no one!” Alexander replied.

Super Bowl Ratings Could Be Off the Charts, Eyeing A Record Above 115 Million Thanks to Taylor Swift and Friends

0

Last night’s Super Bowl game is going to be a record breaker, we know that.

The record now is 115 million total viewers for last years Chiefs-Eagles game. That was also the first time the Chiefs won the Super Bowl.

Last night the Chiefs made history by beating the 49ers for two wins in a row.

The game was great and exactly what the network wanted, with a cliffhanger first half and a nail biter second half. Going into overtime, for only the second time ever, added to the drama.

Plus, there was so much entertainment value: Usher on stage with Alicia Keys and HER, Reba McEntire and Post Malone at the opening, and then all the celebrities in the stands. Taylor Swift brought Blake Lively and Ice Spice, stars like Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga, and Leonardo Di Caprio were in the boxes. So much to look at!

And then of course Beyonce surprised everyone and stole the show by releasing a pair of singles announced during a Verizon commercial! This morning the songs are number 1 and 2 on iTunes.

SO hang on…early ratings should be in starting around 12 noon…

Watch Usher’s Knockout Super Bowl Half Time Show Featuring Alicia Keys, HER Music, and Ludacris

Perfectly executed from top to bottom. Sexy, wholesome, deftly produced and choreographed. Usher gets all As. His voice never sounded better, too. He’s a consummate showman.

Disgraceful: CBS Shows No Integrity, Runs Ad for Dangerous Scientology Cult Three Times

0

CBS and the NFL showed no integrity whatsoever tonight.

They ran an ad for the cult of Scientology at least three times before, during, and after the Super Bowl game.

“A lot of people wonder what Scientology is,” says the narrator.

What is it? A dangerous cult that destroys lives, leaving its members often broke and permanently separated from their families.

They’ve been the subject of numerous books, documentaries, and miniseries exposing their dangers. They are current being sued by former member Leah Remini. Last year, celebrity Danny Masterson — a life long member — was sentenced to 30 years in jail for raping two women. Scientology did everything it could to protect him

And still CBS had the nerve to show this ad. They’ve done it before, but at this point they have no excuse. Is the money really worth it? William S. Paley would be horrified. Sheri Redstone, who owns CBS and Viacom should be, too.

Venal is the only word I can think of.
