Pro Palestinian Model Bella Hadid Blames Adidas for Offensive Antisemitic Sneaker Campaign

Bella Hadid is the pro-Palestinian model and sister of model Gigi Hadid. Their father, Mohammed Hadid, has also been extremely vocal and adamant about denouncing Israel since Hamas attacked on October 7th. So have the young women.

Recently, Bella Hadid was featured in an Adidas ad campaign showing off classic sneakers from the Munich 1972 Olympics. That was the Olympics in which 11 Israeli athletes were murdered by a Palestinian terrorist group called Black September.

When the news of this offensive campaign hit, Adidas immediately removed the ads. They’d already been involved with Kanye West when he declared himself an antisemite. After hesitating, Adidas had to discontinue their entire business relationship with him.

Now Bella Hadid is throwing Adidas under the bus, blaming them for their insensitivity and her stupidity. She’s so uneducated that she says she’s never heard of the Munich massacre even though Steven Spielberg made an award winning movie about it called “Munich.”

Hadid now says there is no place for antisemitism in her pro Palestinian posts. But she says nothing about the Israeli hostages taken, raped, and or killed on October 7th. She is silent on the subject of the 12 Israeli children killed by Hezbollah this week.

Hadid’s apology falls on deaf ears. Yes, Adidas — a German company, which makes this so much worse —  is to blame for creating the campaign. But they’re also responsible for seeking out Hadid, who was notably antisemitic long before the ad. Their insensitivity is easily traceable to the Kanye West scandal. No one at the company made the connection between the Munich massacre and promoting sneakers in the first place?

As for Hadid, her Instagram account prominently features pro-Palestinian posts. Her apology is hidden passive aggressively in her Instagram Stories. Her father and sister have toned down their accounts, but the reality is, these people are indeed antisemitic and they doth protest too much. She also spells ‘waver’ wrong.

“Deadpool and Wolverine” Puts Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” Back on the Singles Chart 35 Years Later

0

Madonna hasn’t had a chart hit for quite some time — like years, really.

But today, her 1989 song, “Like a Prayer,” is number 43 on iTunes.

The song appears in the movie, “Deadpool and Wolverine.” But I told you last week that “Like a Prayer” is not on the “D&W” soundtrack album.

Madonna wouldn’t allow the inclusion. Instead, she’s releasing a 35th anniversary version of the “Like a Prayer” album this fall.

So, to paraphrase, “Life is a mis-er-ee.”

Just ahead of “Like a Prayer” at 39 is “Bye Bye Bye” by NSync. That song is included on the soundtrack.

Will Madonna include the “D&W” remix on her anniversary album? Doesn’t seem like it. She is tone deaf when it come to contemporary marketing, which is odd because she was so good at it when she was younger.

Kevin Costner’s Disastrous “Horizon” Still Playing Nightly at One Drive-in In Upstate NY

0
No one has told the folks in Amenia, New York that Kevin Costner’s “Horizon” is out of theaters.

The $100 million flop Civil War western is playing in just one theater in America — the Four Brothers Drive In. The three hour film is on every night this week at 10:55pm according to their website.

Otherwise, “Horizon” ended its theatrical run last Thursday after 28 days and a total gross of $28 million.

Warner Bros. moved it to home video last week. Initially “Horizon” was number 1 among home movies. But now iTunes lists it at number 4 after just a few days.

For Costner, “Horizon” gives him a hat trick, a trio of huge career flops that also includes “Waterworld” and “The Postman.” One day there’ll be a film festival for all of these, aimed at insomniacs.

Amenia looks like a bucolic place. The population is 4,314. Four Brothers is a Drive-in, which means teens can hit “Horizon” on late dates and do what they will without paying much attention to the screen. Parents will know where they are from 11pm to 2am. So it all works out. Unless someone asks about the plot.

Box Office UPDATED: “Deadpool and Wolverine” Did $6 Mil Better than Reported

0

“Deadpool and Wolverine”? Ever hear of it?

Over the weekend, the Marvel MAD Magazine send up did better than reported yesterday. The total was $211 million, not $206 million.

This makes the Ryan Reynolds-Hugh Jackman comedy the sixth highest opening weekend film of all time.

For Disney, “D&W” Was key. Along with “Inside Out 2,” from Pixar, they have two gigantic successes for the year. They don’t need anything else.

Will there be a sequel to “D&W”? There will have to be. Another “Deadpool and —” movie, I suppose, with Jackman reprising his role and maybe another Marvel star. Or more from the Greek chorus of Marvel losers who turned up in this one.

Anyway, watch this week as everyone who went to “D&W” over the weekend goes back and sees it again, because that’s the plan. There are a lot of Easter eggs to catch on second and third viewings.

PS No word yet on how much merch has been sold.

Watch the Hilarious Trailer for Kevin Smith’s New Coming of Age Film, “The 4:30 Movie”

0

As a long time Kevin Smith fan, I’m thrilled to see the trailer for his new film, “The 4:30 Movie.”

The coming of age story looks great from the very funny trailer. Smith has cast a bunch of newcomers but added in a lot of cameos from friends like Justin Long, Rosario Dawson, Jason Biggs, and Ken Jeong.

Saban Films will release “The 4:30 Movie” on September 13th.

Let’s Go! “Deadpool and Wolverine” $205 Mil Weekend, Biggest R Movie Opening Ever — Plus Downey Back in “Avengers”

0

Before this weekend, the biggest R rated movies opening weekends were the two “Deadpool” Movies.

But now “Deadpool and Wolverine” has opened to $205 million, far eclipsing the previous releases. Number 1 used to be $132 mil for the first “Deadpool” in 2016.

No more.

“D&W” is a triumph for Marvel, which one release this year. They shouldn’t have any trouble getting to a billion dollars domestically.

Internationally, “D&W” has another $115 million logged, with more receipts coming in.

Is it a great movie? No. Is it a memorable souvenir for superhero fans? Yes. Will it have a sequel? Undoubtedly, although next time the stakes will be higher.

How important is Marvel to an actor’s career? Yesterday at the San Diego Comic Con, the studio announced that Oscar winner Robert Downey, Jr will return to the fold in a new Avengers movie.

Downey was killed as off in his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man in “Avengers: Endgame.” But now he’ll play Dr. Doom in “Avengers: Doomsday.” Will the other Avengers recognize him? Who cares! This isn’t “Oppeneheimer,” you know!

Hamptons Last Night: Alec Baldwin, Blythe Danner, Richard Kind, Edie Falco Directed by Bob Balaban in One Act Plays

0

Last night in the Hamptons: The great character actor and director Bob Balaban assembled a group of star actors to perform a collection of post-pandemic short plays to consider “The Pursuit of Happiness.” The ensemble included Alec Baldwin, Edie Falco, Blythe Danner, Jim Bracchitta, Steven Wallem, and Richard Kind.

Begging the question: is it too soon to laugh about the pandemic year, 2020, a collection of short plays by masterful playwrights, did just that in the first of two one-nighters at the newly renovated Guild Hall in East Hampton.

Baldwin kicked off the staged reading with “Mr. Happiness” by David Mamet, a Dear Abby meets Dear Miss Lonelyhearts, an advice guru — which he performed with a stage-y voice only Alec Baldwin could muster.

Blythe Danner — for a Neil LaBute piece from his “10 x 10 Monologues,” about a woman of a certain age contemplating her current plan to go off for a weekend with a handsome stranger — said after the show in Guild Hall’s green room, that she merely read it straight, not trying to act at all. The result was so wistful and moving that even this playwright’s words which are often not respectful to women came off as a true insight into the female psyche.

Lynn Grossman’s play “The Keepsake” took on the subject of memory and its lapses during the COVID era. As performed by Richard Kind, this was the longest and most direct evocation of the virus and its aftermath, still uncharted. Grossman said she wrote the play with Richard Kind in mind as perfect to perform its manic ins and outs of memory and ending with a recitation of a Shakespeare sonnet.

Of course, and as was true for 2020, the actors all seemed well suited for these mini-plays. Said Grossman — quoting Mike Nichols — if you get the right actors, you don’t have to direct them. This may be the secret for this perfect night of theater. Although Balaban added, the actors kept dropping out, sick. With the new variations of COVID? Yes.

The gang is back tonight — sans Baldwin — with more plays and stars.

UPDATE: Bette Midler-Susan Sarandon “Fabulous Four” Found Dead with $1 Mil Weekend, 48 Producers Drown

0

BREAKING: “Deadpool and Wolverine” Becomes Biggest R Rated Opening Weekend Ever!

Yesterday, I reported “The Fabulous Four” missing, and on a milk carton.

This morning, Bleecker Street reported the Bette Midler-Susan Sarandon “comedy” was found dead.

Cause of death: no business. Total box office for three days: $1 million.

It’s a total write off for a movie that has no screenplay. The actors have no chemistry. Nothing makes sense. It’s a reunion of four college gals, two of whom are a dozen years older than the others.

Sarandon is supposed to be playing a heart surgeon and is dumb as a rock. The only thing the movie could capitalize on now is that it has a big subplot about cats. Dr. Susan is a cat lady. If the producers could afford to take out an ad, they could rebuke JD Vance on that topic!

Well, too bad. Midler and Sarandon couldn’t do publicity together, Bleecker had one little screening for a premiere. Midler is said to have left the country on vacation to avoid the whole mess. “The Fab Four” will go straight to streaming and airplanes. And thus it was.

The big losers besides the 48 investors: TikTok, which is promoted throughout.

Missing: “The Fabulous Four” with Bette Midler, Susan Sarandon Goes on Movie Milk Carton

0

What happened to “The Fabulous Four”?

Bleecker Street sent the Jocelyn Moorhouse comedy into 1,045 theaters yesterday and no one’s heard from it since then.

The movie starring Bette Midler, Susan Sarandon, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Megan Mullally is now on a movie milk carton.

Bleecker Street has reported no box office numbers at all.

This poor movie has really suffered. It has lousy reviews — 27% on Rotten Tomatoes. Midler and Sarandon wouldn’t do publicity together over the latter’s pro-Palestinian anti-Israel stance. Then Midler, a friend told me, left the country to get away from the whole mess.

Now the movie has gone MIA. Maybe tomorrow we’ll hear from someone. But the news won’t be good. No one takes any comfort in a movie doing poorly, especially one with gifted stars. But “The Fabulous Four” will likely hit streaming in the next couple of weeks.

Trump Update: Declares “I’m not a Christian,” Advocates Fascism, Lies About Ear, Plus Melania & Barron MIA

0

How about a Donald Trump round up?

Yesterday he begged for the “Christian vote.” He told his audience they just had to vote once, and never again. He’s advocating fascism. He also declared, “I’m not a Christian.”

You have to think most Christians are too smart for this.

Trump also lied about his ear. He said half of it was blown off in his “assassination attempt.” Pictures today of the ear show it completely intact two weeks after the shooting. The head of the FBI, Christopher Wray, openly questioned whether Trump was hit by a bullet or nicked by shrapnel. Today’s pictures speak for themselves.

Where are Melania and Barron? The former First Lady didn’t even bother to greet Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu at Mar a Lago. That’s because she clearly doesn’t live there. Was she hiding upstairs? She’s announced that she’s written a book about her life. It’s not from a real publisher, and has no release date. It’s not even available for pre-order on Amazon.

And where is 18 year old Barron? Trump trotted him out and promised he’d be a delegate to the RNC. That never happened, and there was no explanation for Barron’s absence from the RNC. In three weeks, most college kids will report to their schools. So far, there’s no information about Barron’s plans.

Meantime, Kamala Harris is kicking ass in the polls. She’s a bright light in a dark time. Many polls show her erasing Trump’s lead in one week. She’s ahead in many places. The DNC in August is going to be a massive celebration.
