Vanna White’s Son Likes the AR-15 for Hobbies, Preferred Rifle of Assassins Like Thomas Michael Crooks

0

It’s not often that you spot a real estate broker using the preferred rifle of assassins.

But Nikko Santo Pietro, son of “Wheel of Fortune” star Vanna White, likes the AR-15 for fun.

The lightweight semi-automatic rifle is very popular with crazy people, mass killers (tragedies like Uvalde, TX countless others), and, yes, assassins. It’s not exactly a hunting rifle, unless you’re hunting people. Thomas Michael Crooks used one a couple of weeks ago to graze Donald Trump’s ear, killed fire chief Corey Comperatore, and wound two other people in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Santo Pietro — a Los Angeles real estate broker whose father is restaurateur George Santo Pietro — posted pictures of himself on Instagram using an AR-15 for backyard target shooting. We’re not suggesting he’s committing a crime. But maybe think twice in light of everything that’s happened recently. You could buy a vowel for less trouble.

Sony Music Gets a $700 Million Infusion from Apollo Management: Just to Pay Adele?

0

Curious announcement from Apollo Management.

They’re supplying Sony Music with $700 million.

“We are pleased to provide a bespoke capital solution to an affiliate of one of the world’s leading companies. This investment allows our clients to invest in high grade securities while helping Sony to execute its business plans,” said Apollo Partner Jamshid Ehsani in a statement.

Apollo says it’s for investments in the music industry.

Is this to buy Beyonce lunch? Bruce Springsteen dinner?

Or does Sony Music have something else up its sleeve, like buying another record company?

You wouldn’t think Sony Music needed $700 million. They own a ton of music publishing including the Beatles catalog. They also have a lot of hit artists including Beyonce, Barbra Streisand, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, and Bob Dyland. They have a lot of younger music acts, as well.

Sony would love a new album from Adele. It’s three years in November since she released her last one. But Adele is notably lazy, and now that she’s wrapping up her live performances she says she’s taking time off. Maybe Sony needs the money to pay her an advance before another three years go by! They’re a little chart-deprived at the moment, lagging far behind Republic/Universal, etc and even Warner Music.

(Listen) Trump: “A lot of Jewish people don’t like Israel,” Agrees Harris Husband is “Crappy,” “Horrible” Jew

0

Donald Trump did his best this morning to insult Jews around the world.

On WABC radio’s right wing “Sid in the Morning,” he said that “A lot of Jewish people don’t like Israel. And they happen to be in New York.” Trump also agreed with the interviewer that Doug Emhoff, husband of Kamala Harris, is “Crappy” and “horrible.” He also says nothing when Sid, the host, calls out Harris’s “complexion and gender.”

Trump suffers from verbal diarrhea. He can’t stop himself from self-destructing. No Jewish New Yorker would ever agree with any of this. It’s amazing that he has Jewish in-laws and grandchildren. Imagine one of those kids happening to hear this interview.

Controversial Martha Stewart Documentary Will Open Hamptons Film Fest With Or Without Star

A documentary about Martha Stewart will open the Hamptons Film Festival on October 4th.

There’s some backstage drama, though, about RJ Cutler’s film about the superstar empress of all things cooked and designed.

Cutler is known for his Anna Wintour doc, “The September Issue,” which didn’t portray the sunglassed editor in the best light. I’ve heard there’s some tension between the director and subject.

But you know, Martha is big enough to show up and withstand a warts-and-all presentation. She’s gotten the last laugh on all of us, hasn’t she? She even went to jail and came out more successful than ever. Her best friend is Snoop Dogg.

“Martha” is just one of several high powered docs coming to HIFF. Erik Nelson’s “Daytime Revolution” will recall the week John Lennon and Yoko Ono co-hosted the syndicated “Mike Douglas Show” in February 1972. I can still remember watching this every afternoon, slack jawed that they were on a “square” show.

Lennon and Ono handpicked their guests, ranging from iconic musicians like Chuck Berry, to comedian George Carlin, to radical activists like Yippie founder Jerry Rubin, Black Panther chairman Bobby Seale, and nascent consumer protection guru Ralph Nader.

There’s also a doc about Kenneth Cole, called “The Man with Sole,” about the designer whose unique newspaper ads skyrocketed him to fame and fortune as an activist and famous entrepreneur. There are also two very hyped comedies — “Bad Shabbos,” which was a hit at Tribeca, and “Christmas at Miller’s Point.”

More films will be announced soon, but so far HIFF sounds like it will be hot — even if it’s bracketed by the Jewish High Holidays. (There’s a lot of praying at HIFF anyway!) Artemis Riding and Audi are among the sponsors.

Channing Tatum Thanks Ryan Reynolds for Finally Letting Him Play Gambit in “Deadpool and Wolverine”

0

For 15 years, Channing Tatum wanted to play Marvel character Gambit in a movie.

A 2014 film was developed but then Disney bought Fox and put the “Gambit” project on ice.

Now at last, Gambit played by Tatum has turned up in “Deadpool and Wolverine.” Tatum is a hit, and the card throwing superhero could easily get his own film or TV series.

It’s been a long road. But read Tatum’s lovely thank you note to Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy for including him in “D&W.” Nothing in Hollywood is easy.

Elvis Costello, Eric Clapton, Mavis Staples Booked for Robbie Robertson Tribute Show in LA This October

0

The Band’s Robbie Robertson is getting a posthumous all star tribute show this fall.

“Life is a Carnival” will feature Elvis Costello, Taj Mahal, Eric Clapton, Mavis Staples, Van Morrison, Bob Weir, Noah Kahan, Lucinda Williams and more on October 17th at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

Other artists include Trey Anastasio, Ryan Bingham, Mike Campbell, Eric Church, Warren Haynes, Bruce Hornsby, Jim James, Jamey Johnson, Daniel Lanois, Margo Price, Robert Randolph, Nathaniel Rateliff, Allison Russell, Benmont Tench, and Don Was.

Not listed yet is director Martin Scorsese, but it’s inconceivable that he won’t be there. Others who could be announced would be Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and many others.

Tickets can be found starting tomorrow at Robbiecelebration.com

Robertson, the leader of The Band, died August 9, 2023 after a year long battle with cancer. He left behind a huge musical legacy which was cemented by Scorsese’s 1976 film, “The Last Waltz.” His hits included “The Weight (Take a Load Off, Fannie),” “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,” and “Up on Cripple Creek.”

The Band quickly became associated with Bob Dylan from their album, “The Basement Tapes.” Only one member of the group, Garth Hudson, survives. The others — Levon Helm, Richard Manuel, and Rick Danko — are all gone.

(Watch) Pete Buttigieg Gets A Hero’s Welcome on Daily Show with Jon Stewart

0

The ovation lasted almost two minutes and could have gone on longer.

Pete Buttigieg got a hero’s welcome on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart last night.

The Democrats aren’t going to waste Vice President on him. When Kamala Harris is elected president, Buttigieg will get a big cabinet position.

For the moment, he’s chief communicator, and he’s four star.

Oscars Suffer Setback as Jimmy Kimmel, John Mulaney Decline to Host 2025 Awards

0

Back to square one.

According to Puck News, Jimmy Kimmel has turned down the chance to host the Academy Awards for a fourth time.

John Mulaney — beloved but the right fit — also turned down the job.

The Oscars will air in March 2025 on ABC.

ABC and the Motion Picture Academy now have the task of finding someone to fill Kimmel’s shoes. The ABC late night host saved the show two years ago, increasing the ratings slightly and stabilizing what had become a much criticized show.

So who could take this on? What I hope everyone learned from the last few years is that an outsider doesn’t work. Once they start demeaning Hollywood and the stars, the show is over. Kimmel’s magic was a gentle ribbing from someone all the actors knew and liked.

This is why Johnny Carson, Bob Hope, Billy Crystal, and Whoopi Goldberg were all successful at steering the ship. Frankly, I’d suggest Pete Buttigieg, although by March 2025 he’ll probably be secretary of state.

Chris Rock is unlikely since the whole show would become about the slap. Kelly Clarkson? Not a bad idea, even if she’s one half of a team. The other half? Why not John Leguizamo?

And so the search begins. Keep in mind, the likely Best Director could be Ridley Scott if “Gladiator II” is any good. Best Picture could go that way, too. It’s a middling year. No matter how much money they make, “Deadpool and Wolverine,” “Twisters,” and “Beetlejuice 2” will not be nominated.

Trump Reduced to Calling All Enemies “Crazy,” Attacks Kellyanne Conway Husband Who Just Saw Billy Joel with Family

0

Donald Trump used to have colorfully awful names for his enemies. Remember “Lil Marco” and “Pocohantas”?

Now that he’s 78 and can’t bring words to mind, he’s reduced to calling all his enemies “crazy.” (He seems to be suffering from aphasia.)

Kamala Harris is “crazy.” Now George Conway is “crazy.”

On social media, Trump says his racist mouthpiece, Kellaynne Conway, must have dome something “really nasty” to “a man so badly hurt and humiliated by his wife.”

George Conway is a much better man than the 34 time convicted felon Donald Trump (but so is 99% of the population). I ran into all the Conways a few nights ago at the Billy Joel concert at Madison Square Garden. I did not speak to Kellyanne because it was more sensible to restrain myself.

But George was a gentleman, there for his family and kids. He and the loathsome Kellyanne (who said on TV recently that Kamala Harris spoke poorly and was lazy) were having a completely uneventful time in public, behaving like adults. George Conway is far from “crazy.” Unlike Trump, he’s a man of principle.

Trump also rails against Fox News, saying to win he must avoid the network. But he only wants to debate future president Harris on Fox News because he thinks they will protect him.

He’s very weird.

Pro Palestinian Model Bella Hadid Blames Adidas for Offensive Antisemitic Sneaker Campaign

Bella Hadid is the pro-Palestinian model and sister of model Gigi Hadid. Their father, Mohammed Hadid, has also been extremely vocal and adamant about denouncing Israel since Hamas attacked on October 7th. So have the young women.

Recently, Bella Hadid was featured in an Adidas ad campaign showing off classic sneakers from the Munich 1972 Olympics. That was the Olympics in which 11 Israeli athletes were murdered by a Palestinian terrorist group called Black September.

When the news of this offensive campaign hit, Adidas immediately removed the ads. They’d already been involved with Kanye West when he declared himself an antisemite. After hesitating, Adidas had to discontinue their entire business relationship with him.

Now Bella Hadid is throwing Adidas under the bus, blaming them for their insensitivity and her stupidity. She’s so uneducated that she says she’s never heard of the Munich massacre even though Steven Spielberg made an award winning movie about it called “Munich.”

Hadid now says there is no place for antisemitism in her pro Palestinian posts. But she says nothing about the Israeli hostages taken, raped, and or killed on October 7th. She is silent on the subject of the 12 Israeli children killed by Hezbollah this week.

Hadid’s apology falls on deaf ears. Yes, Adidas — a German company, which makes this so much worse —  is to blame for creating the campaign. But they’re also responsible for seeking out Hadid, who was notably antisemitic long before the ad. Their insensitivity is easily traceable to the Kanye West scandal. No one at the company made the connection between the Munich massacre and promoting sneakers in the first place?

As for Hadid, her Instagram account prominently features pro-Palestinian posts. Her apology is hidden passive aggressively in her Instagram Stories. Her father and sister have toned down their accounts, but the reality is, these people are indeed antisemitic and they doth protest too much. She also spells ‘waver’ wrong.
