Box Office: Don’t “Blink Twice” or You’ll Miss It, Zoe Kravitz-Channing Tatum Thriller DOA

0

This is pretty much the lowest box office weekend since last February.

The new releases are all duds, starting with “Blink Twice,” a psycho sexual thriller directed by Zoe Kravitz and starring Channing Tatum as a much better looking Jeffrey Epstein.

The only winners in this one are the lead actresses, Naomi Ackie and Adria Arjona as young women who get lured to a sex island where they will eventually be killed by Tatum’s megalomaniac named Slater King.

There are large plot holes, a lack of logic, and in the end, just enough violence as a payoff to keep the crowd awake. It’s an Amazon MGM release which means it will go to Amazon Prime soon and that will be that.

Weekend take: under $9 million, maybe less.

Also debuting this weekend: a Christian film called “The Forge,” which is not named for the great Miami club and restaurant. There’s no one in the cast known to moviegoers. Maybe they’re great. It’s from Sony and won’t make $8 million.

There’s also a new version of “The Crow” from Lions Gate, which should also do less than $9 million.

These are the dog days of summer. We’re praying for “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” to be a hit on September 6th.

Tom Cruise Really Wants An Oscar, And This Is How He’ll Do It: Use DiCaprio’s Formula

0

Tom Cruise really wants an Oscar.

Cruise has made gazillions from “Mission Impossible” movies, “Top Gun Maverick,” and recent hits like “American Made” and “Edge of Tomorrow.’

But the closest he’s ever gotten to the Oscars was with “Jerry Maguire” and “Magnolia.”

Now 62, Tom knows his window is starting to close, and that skydiving from thousands of feet won’t do the trick, and that repelling is just repellent.

So he’s going to make a movie with Oscar winning director Alejandro G. Iñàrritu, the man who made “Birdman,” “The Revenant,” and “Babel.”

This is what Leonardo DiCaprio did when making half a dozen Martin Scorsese movies didn’t work. We forget that Leo’s Oscar was for “The Revenant,” which sent him so overboard that there’s a bear out there still calling his name.

Iñàrritu, who has four Oscars, will bring along his “Birdman” screenwriters and an all star cast including Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde, and Oscar winner Riz Ahmed.

In the still untitled film, Cruise will play the most powerful man in the world. Now he wants to be humanity’s savior, even though he caused the problem that could destroy everything.

Just the sound of that plays right into Cruise’s Scientology-based philosophy that he can do anything and is a kind of Superman. Cruise thinks that as an “Operating Thetan” at the highest level, he has superior mental and physical powers far beyond our understanding.

These ideas came from late science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard, who managed to turn his cuckoo ideas into a huge moneymaker.

Will this all work out? Warner Bros. hopes so. They snatched Cruise away from Paramount so he could get a gold statue in his hand. Unfortunately, Cruise will be competing with himself in 2026 as that’s when the long delayed “Mission Impossible 7” will hit theaters in June. But this one will come during Oscar season, in late fall, and then we’ll see how it all plays out.

Kennedy Trump Endorsement Denounced by Siblings: “A betrayal of values of our father…sad ending to a sad story”

The siblings of Robert Kennedy Jr have denounced his endorsement of Donald Trump.

On Twitter X they wrote: “Our brother Bobby’s decision to endorse Trump is a betrayal of the values of that our father and our family hold most dear. It is a sad ending to a sad story.”

The statement is signed by Kerry Kennedy, and undersigned by Courtney, Rory, Chris, and Kathleen Kennedy Townsend. Brother Joe Kennedy reposted it and added: “Well said.”

It is a sad ending to a sad story. Who knows if they’ve even told their mother, Ethel, what’s happening. She’s 96 years old. But so many things about Bobby, as they call him, have been “off” over the years. Is it all attributed to the assassination of his father? The sex, the drugs, the desire to see his father’s murderer released? The conspiracy theories? The siblings know that something is deeply wrong, and there’s nothing they can do about it.

And what about Kennedy’s wife, Cheryl Hines? And his children? How could they possibly go along with this? More to come, and it won’t be pleasant.

Rumor: Trump and Kennedy Thinking About Hooking Up, Vance Would Get Bounce After Unpopular Run

0

Are Donald Trump and Robert Kennedy Jr. hooking up?

The rumor of the morning is Kennedy will replace JD Vance as Trump’s Republican running mate.

Kennedy has a 2pm press conference today in Arizona where he’s expected to end his run for the presidency.

Trump has a nearby speaking appearance.

Vance is considered the worst veep candidate in history. His campaign is even more of a joke than Kennedy’s — or Trump’s. He’s managed to alienate everyone from cats to children. He’s such a pariah that Trump makes no appearances with him. Video clips of him criticizing Trump before the nomination are rampant.

Trump and Kennedy have a lot in common. They are lifelong philanderers who have multiple divorces on their resumes. They’ve each been accused of sexual harassment, although Trump has actually been found guilty of the crime.

Both men attract a crowd of extreme right wingers, also, who believe in non existent conspiracies.

If Kennedy does become Trump’s veep, his family will double efforts to denounce him. Nearly all of siblings and cousins have endorsed Joe Bide and now Kamala Harris. Kennedy’s wife, Cheryl Hines, will see the last of her acting career.

So hang on. I’d like to see Coach Walz debate Kennedy right into the ground.

One note to Kennedy: his affairs, and sex diary, will immediately become an issue. One TV actress who appeared on a long running drama may be subject to revelations.

Stay tuned…

Kellyanne Conway Will Let out The Flying Monkeys When She Sees This Picture

George Conway has posted a happy, smiling picture of himself, daughter Claudia, and Nancy Pelosi.

When Claudia’s mother, Kellyanne, see this, she will let out the flying monkeys. She’ll live audition for “Wicked.”

I may frame this.

TMZ Struck Out on Beyonce Rumor, Special Guest Was Kamala Harris, Guest of Honor: “Are they out of their minds?” (Full speech)

0

TMZ insisted this evening on Twitter that Beyonce as coming to the DNC.

Don Lemon said George W. Bush was also on his way.

No rumors turned out to be true. The special guest tonight was the guest of honor herself, Kamala Harris, our next president. Her speech was a killer. She has more than risen to the occasion. What a pleasure it will be to have her in office.

When she asks of MAGA, “Are they out of their minds,” there was cheering everywhere. Finally someone said it.

Kennedy Withdraws from Arizona Ballot, Begins to Wind Down Non Existent Campaign

0

Robert Kennedy Jr. has withdrawn from the Arizona ballot.

He’s beginning to wind down his non existent presidential campaign, one that has cost him his extended family and exposed most of the awful things he’s done with his life.

He’s already off the New York ballot after a judge ruled Kennedy lied about living in the Empire State.

Kennedy has completely dishonored his late father, Robert F. Kennedy, and his late uncle, John F. Kennedy. He’s imperiled his wife’ acting career — she’s come across as a dimwit — and threatened to expose more skeletons in his closet, ones that could hurt innocent people.

Now Kennedy will join up with Donald Trump tomorrow after pulling out of the race entirely. He will join a sinking ship, but jump like a rat in about six weeks when things really start to tank.

At least we’re rid of him.

Trump Explodes with 3 Dozen Angry Social Media Posts During Kamala’s Triumphant, Positive Acceptance Speech

Donald Trump lost his mind during Kamala Harris’s beautifully crafted, inspiring acceptance speech tonight.

He posted at least 27 times to his Truth Social during the 45 minute speech that tore apart his agenda and offered a way forward for America.

Trump could not contain himself taking credit anything he believed positive, and slinging insults at Harris on every subject from Israel to the economy to Gaza and immigration.

Grasping at straws, he posted: “Where’s Hunter?” He doesn’t seem to know who is running against him.

He wrote:

“Everybody, Democrats, Republicans, Liberals, and Conservatives, wanted Roe v. Wade TERMINATED, and brought back to the States. Like Ronald Reagan and myself, most believe in EXCEPTIONS. Now the people are voting, which is the way it was supposed to be. I do not limit access to birth control or I.V.F. – THAT IS A LIE, these are all false stories that she’s making up, that I’ve never even heard of. It’s just words coming out of her mouth. I TRUST WOMEN, ALSO, AND I WILL KEEP WOMEN SAFE! SHE WON’T, BECAUSE THE INVASION OF OUR COUNTRY AT HER OPEN BORDER IS DESTROYING THE LIVES OF WOMEN, AND THE FAMILIES AND JOBS OF AFRICAN AMERICANS AND HISPANICS.t one example of a rant filled with untruths.”

DNC 3rd Night Ratings Trump RNC by 29% Thanks to All-Star Producers Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner

0

The Day 2 ratings of the DNC across all platforms again wiped out the numbers from the RNC last month.

Both Days 1 and 2 came in around 20 million.

Last night the ratings were 11.7 million vs RNC third night. That’s a difference of 29%.

Tonight will be off the chart.

This is all thanks to producers Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner. You might know Glenn from a few years ago when he proposed to his then girlfriend during the Emmy Awards.

Ricky is the son famed music producer and publisher Don Kirshner, to whom we really owe thousands of hits from the Brill Building era. Don Kirshner also hosted Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert back in the 70s and 80s. Paul Shaffer played him on “SNL.”

These guys have multiple Emmy Awards for producing all the major awards shows over the years as well the New Year’s Eve special on ABC.

Weiss and Kirshner have made the DNC a joy — a word that you heard about 50 times a night. (I even have a drinking game for “joy.”) This DNC could win a bunch of Emmy Award itself for its authentic feeling of relief and celebration. I’ve been to three DNC’s — 2000, 2004, and 2008 — and none of them had this kind of swagger.

Kudos to this duo for making appointment TV during what is usually the dullest week of the year. And shame on the broadcast networks for not giving them the 8 to 10pm block. Their show is more entertaining than reruns of mediocre programming from earlier in the year.

UPDATE Trailer for Coppola’s “Megalopolis” Pulled by Studio After Quotes Were Fabricated

0

Yesterday I posted the trailer for Francis Ford Coppola’s movie, “Megalopolis.”

The trailer opened with quotes from famous reviewers panning “The Godfather.” It was supposed to show that reviewers don’t understand masterpieces when they see them.

It seemed odd, if clever, but there it was. Until Vulture’s Bilge Eibiri went back and looked up the quotes. They were fabricated. They never happened.

Lions Gate immediately pulled the trailer. A Lionsgate spokesperson said in a statement: “Lionsgate is immediately recalling our trailer for Megalopolis. We offer our sincere apologies to the critics involved and to Francis Ford Coppola and American Zoetrope for this inexcusable error in our vetting process. We screwed up. We are sorry.”

When I heard this, I thought maybe someone had hacked the trailer. But it turns out it was whoever made the trailer, they thought this was a good idea. Either way, it wasn’t. Coppola must be furious. This movie has already had enough trouble.

‘Megalopolis” opens September 27th with or without a trailer. It does have a poster, of Adam Driver holding either a lamp or a light saber.
