First Look: “Joker 2” Trailer Stars Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga as Partners in Crazy

0

Here’s the trailer for the year’s hottest film. Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga in Joker: Folie a Deux. Coming October 4th.

Not only does Gaga look like a winner here, but the prospect of a best song and new hit album adds to the excitement.

The movie was just announced for the Venice Film Festival, too.

Angelina Jolie Bringing Film Featuring Two of Her Kids to Toronto Film Festival

0

Angelina Jolie’s directorial effort, “Without Blood,” will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. Two of her kids — Pax and Maddox — are listed in the cast that includes Salma Hayek and Damien Bachir.

“Without Blood” is about the ravages of war, and was shot in Italy two years ago.

Jolie will cause a media sensation off the wall, as they say. But she’s a good director, and her work is taken seriously.

Also coming are documentaries about Elton John, and Bruce Springsteen.

Paul Schrader’s highly praised (from Cannes) “Oh Canada” will premiere, which makes sense because of its title.

The rest of the TIFF offerings look pretty exciting. The festival begins September 5th.

Trump Vicious Overnight Attack Against Biden, Lies that No One Knows Where He Is: “He Never Had COVID!”

0

You don’t think Donald Trump could sink any lower, and yet overnight he went on a vicious attack against Joe Biden.

Trump is claiming Biden never had COVID and no one knows where he is. In fact, Biden does have COVID, and everyone knows he’s at home in Rehobeth Beach, Delaware.

This, coming from a man who spent the majority of his time in office either at Mar-a-lago or in Bedminster, New Jersey playing bad golf.

Trump uses his Truth Social as a bludgeon spreading disinformation to his illiterate, uneducated followers. It’s stunning that Trump Media even has a stock price. Everyone should dump it!

Meanwhile, his lackey Kellyanne Conway went on her own racist attack yesterday against Vice President Kamala Harris. On Fox News, Conway declared that Harris “doesn’t speak well” and described her as lazy.

Conway should immediately be removed from all public appearances, and publicly condemned. Disgraceful.

Kellyanne Conway is already a vile character from the Trump supporting cast of villains.

But today Fox News, this facelift with a shrill voice finally did something worse than claiming the Bowling Green Massacre

Conway’s racist description of Vice President Kamala Harris is a dog whistle of cliches that should be deplored on every network.

Conway said of Harris: “She does not speak well. She does not work hard.” You can see below. That Fox allowed this without criticism is expected. But she should never be allowed to speak again on national television.

Conway could not be more horrible, but this is her low point.

Scared Trump Wants 2nd Debate Moved to Fox News, Suggests Dems Reimburse Him

0
Donald Trump doesn’t want to debate Kamala Harris, especially on Fox News. On social media, Trump suggests that the 2nd debate should be moved to Fox News from ABC. He also suggests Republicans should be reimbursed for campaigning against Biden all this time. Trump is scared to death of Harris. She’s young, really smart, and vital. On a debate stage she will demolish him. Remember what she was like with Biden in the Democratic primary debates? When Trump starts lying, she will call his ass out instantly. As for the debate moving to Fox, that won’t help Trump. They dislike him as much as anything else. He criticizes them all the time. What he wants is a debate moderated by Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity, or Viktor Orban and Kim Jung un. Good luck with that.

Joe Biden Reluctantly Drops Out of 2024 Race, Endorses Harris

0

After a great presidency, Joe Biden will not run for a second term. He’s endorsed Kamala Harris to take his place.

Biden saved us in 2020 from Trump’s mania and danger. We must support Harris now, or lose our country.

“Twisters” Exceeds Box Office Expectations with $80.5 Mil Cyclone of an Opening Weekend

0

We’re not in Kansas anymore.

“Twisters,” an update of the original 1996 “Twister” movie with Bill Paxton, blew away everything this weekend.

Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, “Twisters” smashed expectations with $80.5 mil at the box office.

Glen Powell, star of the year, is the head storm chaser. His non stop PR and marketing campaign helped the movie overturn everything around it.

Powell has already had two hits in 2024 — Richard Linklater’s smart “Hit Man” on Netflix, and the romcom “Anyone But You.” His meteoric rise this season follows his appearance in “Top Gun Maverick.”

For Chung, “Twister” is a huge leap forward after his Oscar nominated, and very different, “Minari,” put him on the map.

The rest of the box office wasn’t even stormy. Holdovers from last week and early this summer had tepid responses. Kevin Costner’s “Horizon” failed to break $28 million after 4 weeks. Sony’s “Fly me to the Moon” is a total bust after 2 weeks with just $16.3 million. Indies “Kinds of Kindness” and “The Bikeriders” have slipped into the abyss.

And so we wait for “Deadpool and Wolverine” to challenge “Twister.” If Ryan Reynolds were really clever, he’d have a video of him and Hugh Jackman playing the game, Twister. (Send a check here.)

Trump Praises His Kids at RNC Even Though Barron was Missing, Tiffany Snubbed, Ivanka Silent

0

Donald Trump is the master of misinformation, as we know.

So today he’s praising his kids on social media for their appearance at the RNC this week.

Just to be truthful: Barron, 18, was missing and there’s no explanation. Originally Barron was going to be a Florida delegate until Melania pulled the plug on that plan. Barron is supposedly going to college this fall, although we all know that is not going to happen. They’re going to say he’s taking a gap year because of the election. Then next year there will be another excuse.

Trump snubbed daughter Tiffany at the convention. She approached him and tried to give him a kiss. He turned his head and brushed her off. It’s on video.

Ivanka, complicit with husband Jared of making billions off the last Trump administration, was silent through the the convention. She and Jared should have been prosecuted a long time ago.

Only Don Jr and Eric spoke, along with Don’s daughter, who is clearly being groomed as the next generation.

But really — writing “HOW GOOD WERE MY KIDS AT THE CONVENTION??? I AM PROUD OF THEM ALL!” on social media is just fabricating some myth. And where is Barron? They didn’t even give a COVID excuse. Nothing.

Biden Fundraiser with David Letterman on Martha’s Vineyard on July 29th: Will Obamas Show or Snub?

0

All this talk of money drying up for the Biden campaign. And yet.

The Biden campaign is coming to Barack Obama’s backyard of Martha’s Vineyard on July 29th. First Lady Jill Biden will host a massive fundraiser there, which will, of course, include the President.

Of all people, David Letterman is the draw. He apparently (and smartly) has endorsed Biden.

But the real drama will be the appearance or absence of Barack and Michelle Obama. They live right there on the tiny island. If they don’t show, it will be considered a sign and a snub. Being “away in Europe” will sting.

Obama, it should be noted, has been a guest on Letterman’s Netflix show. So that may be a sign, as well.

Other organizers include Hawaii Gov. Josh Green and his wife Jamie Kanani Green, Kenneth and Dede Feinberg, Carol and C. Bernard Fulp, Eric Green and Carmin Reiss.

The address of the event, for now, remains hidden, but I imagine it’s at one of the homes of the people mentioned.

Martha’s Vineyard is a curious mixture of wealth for both whites and Blacks. One of the hosts is Bernard Fulp, 87 year old wealthy and influential Boston banker, who is Black. The Feinbergs are among the top Vineyard set. So this fundraiser is being planned carefully.

Letterman should attract a number of celebrities to event, like Carly Simon.

But the big question mark is the Obamas. They will be the bellwether for the continued existence of the Biden campaign.

Friday Box Office: “Twisters” Kicks Up a Storm with $32.2 Mil Opening, Heads to $75 Mil

0

The box office had only one appointment Friday night.

“Twisters” took in $32.2 million including Thursday previews.

The Glen Powell good ol’ boy adventure should see $75 million by the end of the weekend.

Otherwise, theatres were quiet as “Despicable Me 4” and “Inside Out 2” keep entertaining families.

The box office needs a shake up and that will come next Thursday with “Deadpool and Wolverine” smashing everything around it. We’ll see it on Monday and find out all the spoilers! *Like if there will be two more!!
