Buttigieg Warns the Media, and Voters: Trump Using “Eating Pets” Is Strategic Distraction, So Is Loomer Gossip

0

Pete Buttigieg has become a Trump Whisperer. He gets it. On CNN, he explained very simply what’s going with “eating pets” in Springfield, Ohio.

Pete also correctly classifies the current Laura Loomer lunacy similarly. They are strategic distractions on the part of Trump to keep people from talking about his record on abortion, January 6th, his many trials, 34 felony convictions, etc.

So the many cat and dog memes, while humorous, are feeding right into Trump’s playbook. It’s silly stuff, but he knows it and he’s playing the media. Same with Loomer, who he’s turned into a stooge and will abandon the minute she’s not useful.

Pete Buttigieg reminds us to pay attention to the magician’s handiwork, and don’t look away.

Katy Perry Takes a 30 Year Old Hit About a Homeless Woman and Turns It Into Something Meaningless

0

In 1991, Crystal Waters co-wrote and had a massive hit with “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless).”

The track — in which Waters invented the “la da dee la da dee” refrain over an infectious disco beat remains a high water mark in dance music. But Waters also recalled in a 2023 interview, the song was about a homeless woman.

Now Katy Perry has taken most of “Gypsy Woman” and co-opted it for a single called “I’m His, He’s Mine.” She’s changed the entire meaning of it, from something profound into nonsense

Luckily, no one cares. “I’m His, He’s Mine” debuted overnight at numbe5 27. It’s her third single that’s gone DOA from a new album coming next week. Perry is in trouble, and this is kind of a mess.

Of course, at the MTV Video Music Awards, the audience cheered when they heard the opening notes of “Gypsy Woman.” They thought Perry was doing a straight cover. They’re too young to get the idea.

Waters said in that interview, by the way: “I felt the song needed to tell a story and was reminded of a woman who used to stand outside in Washington. She had full face makeup and always dressed well, but she sang gospel songs in the street and had a hand out asking for money. Homelessness was really bad in DC at the time and at first my attitude had been: “She needs to get some work.” Then the local paper did a story about how she had lost her job at a cosmetic counter and fallen fast, but she felt that if she was going to ask for money she would look clean and respectable. Her story changed my whole opinion about homelessness, so I sang her life in the song: “She wakes up early every morning / Just to do her hair / Because she cares y’all.”

Now Perry sings:
I’m his queen, I’m his freak
I’m every woman he wants and needs
I’m his dream, I’m his drug
I’m every woman he wants, so what?
I’m his boss, I’m that bitch
I’m every woman he knows exists
I’m his main, I’m his side
I’m every woman that’s in his mind

Yikes. I don’t know what happened to Katy Perry. Her whole comeback album seems like gigantic mistake, from using Dr. Luke as a producer to the whole theme of the songs. I fear this will end in tears.

Trump Lies About Stock Price, Sends it Soaring Until Sales Are Paused Twice on Suspicion of Manipulation

0

I guess there are different ways of interpreting what Donald Trump — convicted of 24 felonies —  did yesterday to cause his Trump Media to be paused from trading twice.

At a press conference, he announced that he would not be selling his shares in the stock even though its price has crashed in recent weeks.

This sent Trump Media stock up 25% in a lightning spike. The stock price went up $3.50, from 16.27 to $20.76. This happened betewen 2:20 and 2:40pm.

When investors realized they’d been played — and that the markets had paused trading on the stock because the whole thing was highly suspicious — the stock fell to %17.97 where it closed.

In addition to briefly manipulating the markets, Trump also lied outright to whoever was out there with him. In the video below he says the stock originally opened at “two dollars” and “went to 182.”

This, of course, is a lie. The Trump Media stock hit $97.54 on March 2, 2022. That was the highest it ever got, and that lasted one day. The stock price collapsed. When Trump merged his company with Digital World in March 2024, the price rose briefly to $61.96 from $34.69. Now it’s worth about half of that.

Here’s the video from Friday. Go to 1:50 in the video to hear the bit about Trump Media having “the biggest increase in the history of the stock market.”

What was worse? The market manipulation or the utter lie about the stock’s price history? Who would invest with this guy?

Below, see Trump’s complaint about the stock trading being halted.

Box Office Doldrums Continue as “Beetlejuice 2” Will Be Only Hit This Weekend

0

Labor Day has passed, and the box office is cold to the touch.

The only hit movie playing this weekend is “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” The long awaited sequel to “Beetlejuice” has about $136 million in the bank. Another $15 million may come in over the weekend.

Otherwise the box office is dry and arid with tumbleweeds named “Reagan” and “It Ends with Us” blowing though the popcorn stands.

What are we waiting for? Next Thursday comes a new “Transformers” movie and Demi Moore in “The Substance.” The latter is a horror film with a great performance by Moore — her best work ever. It starts out like a social satire and ends up like something from Guillermo del Toro.

And on we trod…

Sundance Film Festival Could Move to Cincinnati or Boulder But Will Likely Stay Put in Park City, Utah

0

The Sundance Film Festival will probably stay put in Park City, Utah.

But they have to look like they’re investigating a move so yesterday they announced two cities under consideration.

One would be Boulder, Colorado, which is just like Park City but maybe colder and more expensive.

The other is Cincinnati, which is hilarious considering it’s the home of Procter and Gamble, the antithesis of anything indie. It’s also a conservative city with a small liberal center.

Sundance started in Provo, Utah and moved to Park City in the early 80s. It was Robert Redford’s dream, and even though he’s retired a move away would be a jolt to the festival’s legacy.

The biggest issue in Park City is affordable accommodations and easy travel. It costs a fortune to stay there. And taxis between theaters when you’re in a hurry are ridiculously overpriced.

But if you’re up for getting a cold or pneumonia, or having snow blow straight in your face, there’s no place like it. Better to stay and deal with the devil you know than the one you don’t — like the urban myth of the P&G logo.

Diana Ross, Lionel Richie Each Performed at Chaotic LA Fool in Love Fest, But Not Together Once Again

0

Soul music fans in Los Angeles are still talking about the Fool in Love Festival held August 31st.

The day — cut down from two to one — brought together dozens of classic soul artists each of whom performed for about 20 minutes. They included Gladys Knight, Al Green, Chaka Khan, and Santana.

Most fans complained that the festival was “chaotic” and that it took place not in a theater or a stadium, but a parking lot.

Top billed for the day were Diana Ross and Lionel Richie, former Motown labelmates who had a smash hit back in 1981 with the song “Endless Love.” Richie wrote the song for the movie of the same title. The movie was a bust but the song has gone on to be covered hundreds of times.

It did seem from the advertising that Ross and Richie would sing together. But fans were disappointed to learn that the two singers don’t speak to each and don’t sing their famous duet ever. They each have performed it in solo shows, though, so it’s not that there aren’t charts for the musicians.

But Ross appeared at 8pm for a medley of hits. Richie came on at 9:30pm. But no “Endless Love” from either of them.

Last year, Richie was upset with Ross when she went to a party Beyonce was throwing instead of accepting his invitation to perform the duet at one of his shows in San Francisco. Richie told the crowd, exasperated, “[For over] 37 years, Diana said ‘No [to performing the song].’ What made you think tonight she was going to show up? She ain’t coming.”

The only time I know of when the pair sang together was at the 1982 Academy Awards.

No one knows what motivates Diana Ross. She’s never been loyal to her Motown pals from long ago. She didn’t turn up at the big pre Grammy Awards Musicares tribute to Berry Gordy and Smokey Robinson in 2023, even though Lionel and Stevie Wonder performed. She was always nasty to fellow Supreme, the late great Mary Wilson.

As for FoolinLove, not a lot of people posted to social media, but the ones that did complained about it. Andy Gordon wrote on his website: “The ambitious lineup drew thousands of fans who braved sweltering heat, unforgiving asphalt, and four stages that were spread far apart. Pith helmets and a caravan of camels would have come in handy, but seeing the amazingly talented lineup was almost worth the obstacles to getting there.”

Were the artists paid? Let’s hope so. Live Nation was the overall producer. Was money made? That’s anyone’s guess.

Donald Trump, Terrified of Another Debate with Kamala Harris, Won’t Do It, Says He “Won” This One

0

Donald Trump is so terrified of Kamala Harris he will not debate her again.

Trump has convinced himself that he won Tuesday’s showdown and doesn’t need to go through it again.

He doesn’t understand that Harris made a meal of him. Even Republican politicians and pundits agree, especially Fox News.

Trump is so insulated from reality he’s believing sycophants like Sean Hannity and Laura Loomer, and the other loonies on the right.

Harris knocked him out on Tuesday. She immediately asked for a rematch so she could do it again. Trump is either clueless, or scared, or both. He now also faces the wrath of Swifites, who are coming for him from all over.

Here’s what he wrote today on his failing Truth Social:

When a prizefighter loses a fight, the first words out of his mouth are, “I WANT A REMATCH.” Polls clearly show that I won the Debate against Comrade Kamala Harris, the Democrats’ Radical Left Candidate, on Tuesday night, and she immediately called for a Second Debate. She and Crooked Joe have destroyed our Country, with millions of criminals and mentally deranged people pouring into the USA, totally unchecked and unvetted, and with Inflation bankrupting our Middle Class. Everyone knows this, and all of the other problems caused by Kamala and Joe – It was discussed in great detail during the First Debate with Joe, and the Second Debate with Comrade Harris. She was a no-show at the Fox Debate, and refused to do NBC & CBS. KAMALA SHOULD FOCUS ON WHAT SHE SHOULD HAVE DONE DURING THE LAST ALMOST FOUR YEAR PERIOD. THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!

Report: Atlantic Records Hitting Sour Notes with Low Sales, Game of Thrones as Execs Go to War

0

There’s a startling report in music industry website hitsdailydouble.com about the legendary Atlantic Records.

According to hits, executives are playing a Game of Thrones and are at war as the label has yielded very low sales and bled money.

Right now, Atlantic — which has made it through decades with many generations of hits — is in trouble. They have just two albums in the top 50 — Charlie XCX’s “Brat” and the “Twisters” soundtrack.

Mainstay artists like Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars have not been releasing music. At the same time, Atlantic has not been developing new artists.

Hits says the label’s biggest mistake was a $400 million investment in something called 300 Entertainment. 300 — which is all hardcore rap artists — has produced no hits and no real names.

Several of their artists — including Gunna and Young Thug — are part of a massive 56 count RICO Indictment from the US government. According to NY Magazine’s Vulture, YSL — which stands for Young Stoner Life Records — is part of 300 Management. They have an 88 page indictment against them alleging “182 instances of the collective’s participation in gang activity and criminal conspiracies, citing lyrics, social-media posts, and clothing or accessories with SLIME emblazoned on them as evidence.”

Of course, all of this somehow relates to Lyor Cohen, who started out working with Russell Simmons (currently living out of the country) with Def Jam Records. Then he joined Edgar Bronfman, Jr in the eight year destruction of Warner Music Group. He founded 300 Entertainment in 2016. Cohen is currently the head of music at YouTube.

But now hitsdailydouble.com speculates that Cohen is waiting for his good friend, Julie Greenwald, to leave Atlantic — where she was recently deposed — to form a new company. Hits say they will try and poach Sheeran and Mars, although for those two big stars leave Atlantic — part of the current Warner Music — seems insane.

Atlantic somehow got themselves into this mess by not developing artists and letting stars like Sheeran and Mars slide into an abyss. Right now, Atlantic has no new releases on schedule this fall according to hits.

Hits, always irreverent, concludes their piece this way: “Julie and Lyor could be successful in their next venture(s), to be sure, but don’t get in their way or they’ll run you over with a cement truck and throw your body in the East River.”

This is quite a fall from Atlantic’s halcyon days under founders Ahmet and Nesuhi Ertegun. They built the label of Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Sam & Dave into an R&B behemoth, then developed Crosby, Stills & Nash and Led Zeppelin, among others. The newer regimes had dozens of pop hits in the 2000s with Matchbox Twenty, Kelly Clarkson, etc.

But recent public issues for their acts — like Lizzo’s lawsuits — have made them vulnerable to exec takeovers and rampant gossip. Lizzo, for example, is frozen as an artist until her lawsuits are settled or dismissed. They have two acts that could help them– Jack Harlow and Coldplay — but otherwise, to quote U2, they’re stuck in a moment and they can’t get out of it.

Linda Ronstadt Endorses Kamala Harris, Tells Trump and Vance “You’re No Good”

0

Pop legend singer Linda Ronstadt has three words for Donald Trump and JD Vance: “You’re no good.”

Ronstadt made it clear today that she endorses Kamala Harris and rejects any Trump Rally at a building in Tucson, Arizona — her home town — with her name on it.

Linda says of Trump on Instagram: “I don’t just deplore his toxic politics, his hatred of women, immigrants and people of color, his criminality, dishonesty and ignorance — although there’s that.”

Don’t mess with Linda!

Melania Trump Shares Rare Photo Showing Off Her Original Face in Book Promo Post About Motherhood

0

Melania Trump sure looked a lot different 18 years ago.

In a new post promoting her forthcoming novel, “Melania,” the Slovenian former model showed off a rare photo of herself with baby Barron.

The post is supposed to be about motherhood. But the photo with the baby clearly indicates a different face than the one she currently sports.

Who could be behind this video campaign? It’s one of the worst ever. But we are enjoying it immensely!
