Despite calls by Jewish groups and petitions from celebrities, Amazon.com and Jeff Bezos refuse to remove an antisemitic documentary and book from their platform.
The movie, called “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America,” is available for purchase or rent on Amazon Prime. The book, which was its source material, is available as well. In fact, thanks to Amazon it’s number 36 on their bestseller list. A movie and a book no one ever heard of have been turned into bestsellers. They are full of hate and lies. And each of them are labelled Best Sellers.
But this is what happens when there are no consequences for a hate crime.
NBA player Kyrie Irving promoted the antisemitic film on Twitter. The film, unknown to just about everyone, became a hot topic. Irving was fined by the Brooklyn Nets and was suspended for just five games. That was his punishment. Irving should have been suspended for a whole season. But so far the NBA has done little.
Now we have to live with the consequences. The film is sandwiched between “Top Gun Maverick” and “Bullet Train” on the home viewing chart for this past week. People have been watching it. Paying to see it. Buying it and keeping it.
You can read an open letter signed today by a number of celebrities asking Amazon and Barnes & Noble to remove the movie and the books supporting it immediately. Among those signing the letter are Mila Kunis (Actress), Debra Messing (Actress), Mayim Bialik (Actress), Sherry Lansing (Former CEO of Paramount Pictures), Tracy-Ann Oberman (Actress), Emmanuelle Chriqui (Actress), Haim Saban (Chairman & CEO, Saban Capital Group), Orly Marley (President, Tuff Gong Worldwide), Rick Rosen (Co-Founder, Endeavor), David Draiman (Frontman, Disturbed), Nina Tassler (Producer and Partner/Co-Founder, PatMa Productions); Diane Warren (Songwriter, Producer), Iliza Shlesinger (Comedian), and Ben Silverman (Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Propagate Content).
You can add my name to the list. This must be done immediately.
PS You can also read this insane story from the New York Times about NBA president Adam Silver absolving Irving. He — Silver — should be fired immediately.
