Report: “The Conners” Cuts Michael Fishman (DJ) And His On Screen Daughter, Likely to Cut Costs

DJ Conner is leaving home.

There’s a report today in TV Line that Michael Fishman is out at “The Conners.” So is his daughter, played by Jayden Rey as Mary Conner.

It’s not a surprise. Neither actor has been in many episodes as regulars. The show’s ratings have dropped, and the costs get higher for ABC as they’re paying big guns John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, and Sara Gilbert plus a large supporting cast and Katey Sagal in a recurring role.

This will likely be the last season for “The Conners.”

DJ’s absence could be explained this way: he’s gone looking for his brother, Jerry Garcia Conner, who’s never been mentioned in the spin off. Jerry was born to Roseanne and Dan at the end of “Roseanne.” No one knows what happened to him. Maybe DJ can solve that mystery.

Jerry Garcia may also know where Aunt Jackie’s son, Andy, might be living. He’s also MIA since the new series began.
