Broadway: Bad News as Beanie Feldstein Out of “Funny Girl” Again, This Time with COVID

Share

Bad news for fans of Beanie Feldstein. The usually effervescent star of “Funny Girl” will be out the rest of this week.

On Instagram, Beanie says she’s tested positive for COVID, so for the safety of cast and crew she’s home for the time being.

Julie Benko, Beanie’s understudy, will take over. Benko has filled in Beanie a few times already since the show opened in late April.

Beanie’s timing is right for being off the Great White Way this week. It’s Tony Awards week and she was, sadly, not nominated for her performance. She should have been acknowledged for doing a fine job. But instead the “Funny Girl” revival was largely ignored by awards groups.

Let’s hope Beanie gets well fast and returns to the show quickly.
