Cameron Crowe’s great movie, “Almost Famous,” is coming to Broadway as a musical this fall.
They’ve released a song called “Everybody’s Coming Together” that sounds like Tom Petty meets “Hair.” That’s not a bad thing. But “Almost Famous” isn’t about a revolution, as the song says. It’s about a 16 year old reporter coming of age covering a rock band for Rolling Stone. So we’ll see. I really hope it’s good.
The show has no ‘name’ performers but stars of appealing newcomers. Tom Kitt wrote the songs. Derek McLane designed the sets. Jeremy Herrin directs. The show opens in a still to named Shubert Theater in October, with previews beginning September 13th.
