Rachel Zegler has zoomed from wearing her boyfriend’s flannel in front of a TV set to appearing on two huge awards shows within a week of each other.
Zegler has been added to the April 3 Grammy Awards on CBS. She will join a special In Memoriam performance featuring songs of Stephen Sondheim by Broadway stars Cynthia Erivo, current nominee Leslie Odom Jr., and current nominee Ben Platt.
Only a few days ago Zegler was lamenting on social media that Disney wouldn’t let her leave the set of “Snow White” in London, a $200 million production, to fly to Los Angeles and be on the Oscars. But once she posted that she hadn’t been invited, all hell broke loose. She was immediately added to the Academy Awards show. Now she’ll stay another week and do the Grammys as well.
What a turn of events! And all because of a “random” question on Instagram from a fan asking what she was wearing on the Oscars. Zegler replied “her boyfriend’s flannel” because she hadn’t been invited. That fan should really be thanked for making all this happen by accident!
Also set for the Grammys are Jon Batiste, Foo Fighters, H.E.R., Nas, and Chris Stapleton. They’re in addition to Brothers Osborne, BTS, Brandi Carlile, Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X with Jack Harlow, and Olivia Rodrigo.
But the performer everyone is waiting to hear an announcement about is Adele. The problem is, Adele’s album, “30,” didn’t make the eligibility cut off. It was released in November 2021. So she would appear on the next Grammys in January 2023. That’s fine except the album is hot now, and Adele did her big Oprah special for CBS.
So now what? Adele also cancelled thirteen weekends of shows in Las Vegas, where the Grammys are being held. She’s not too popular in Sin City right now, with ticket holders, promoters, ticket sellers, and all kinds of other Vegas workers left holding the bag. Maybe she’s afraid to set foot in town lest some fan approach her about reimbursement!
