Almost the last thing I did before the world stopped was go to the premiere of John Krasinski’s “A Quiet Place, Part 2.”
That was March 8, 2020. Duck duck goose. Then the world came to a screeching halt.
“AQP2” has been moved around a bit since then. But now it’s got a release date: May 28th. It will go into theaters, I guess, and up on Paramount Plus streaming. It’s quite good, if I remember correctly. It’s an excellent middle movie in a trilogy, and sets up a Part 3 nicely. Emily Blunt kicks ass, Cillian Murphy is terrific, the kids are alright, and it’s very scary.
Now that Paramount has settled that problem, what’s next? Oh, yes. What ever happened to Wes Anderson’s “The French Dispatch”? Maybe Searchlight will give it a summer date. I feel like I saw it and forgot it already. No, seriously, let’s get this one going. Maybe for this year’s Cannes Film Festival?
