Here’s the long, meaningless list of nominees for People’s Choice Awards. These are the lowest of the low. The whole thing is arranged in advance, and only “winners” show up. This is so Hollywood old school, it’s breathtaking. But it’s right after New Year’s, everyone’s groggy, and someone will show up and give a scripted speech. The whole is such a joke–and so cynical. So many categories. I especially like “Favorite Monday Night Show at 8pm” and “Best Actress in a Comedy Whose Name Starts with a T.” The actors and publicists all know how much nonsense this is. The audience remains happily clueless. Ignorance is bliss. Jane Lynch is hosting this year. She used to be so much fun and jaundiced, especially in those Christopher Guest movies. How can she keep a straight face? We’ll see, I guess.
