Not a Shock: “Yellowstone” Will Continue Without Kevin Costner, Rest of the Cast Will Remain

Kevin Costner really blew it.

He thought “Yellowstone” would die without his character as he went off to make his “Horizon” movies.

I wrote here a long time ago that “Yellowstone” could go on without him. Now Puck newsletter also confirms that Taylor Sheridan’s hit cowboy drama will go on.

Meantime, “Horizon” is a total dud. Warner Bros. will probably stream the second movie after the first one tanked. There’s no deal for the third and fourth parts, which no one wants anyway.

I’m told Costner’s John Dutton will get get killed, and there will be a murder mystery for the next season.

This makes sense. Dutton was a villain, so everyone will be a suspect. Sheridan will likely introduce a new character, played by a star, who will come to take Costner’s place as the Hollywood draw.

“Yellowstone” is a brand with millions of viewers. Paramount and Sheridan weren’t going to just shut it down after all that investment of time, money, marketing. Will it pick up steam again? Absolutely. Soap ensembles work like that.

Costner overplayed his hand. Live and learn!
