President Bill Clinton will publish his second memoir this fall right after the national elections.
“Citizen,” says his publisher, Alfred A. Knopf, will cover Clinton’s post-presidency, everything that’s happened to him and to Hillary since 2001.
There’s no word yet on how wide ranging or candid the book will be. For example, Clinton’s name has been in the mix of stories about Jeffrey Epstein for years. Will that saga be included?
After Clinton’s terms in office, he also became famous close to George and Barbara Bush. It always seemed odd. Now that they’re gone, will he give us a look at how all that worked?
The timing of the book — two weeks after the election — is tricky. If Clinton goes hard on Donald Trump, how will that look if Trump (god forbid) wins?
More to come. We haven’t had a publishing event book really since Prince Harry’s “Spare.” The book biz sure needs this release.
In a statement, Clinton said: “Citizen is the story of my 23-plus years since leaving the White House, told largely through the stories of other people who changed my life as I tried to help change theirs, of those who supported me, including those I loved and lost, and of the mistakes I made along the way.”
