Met Life Stadium– the Meadowlands — rang with sweat and delight last night as Bruce Springsteen and the impeccable E Street Band wrapped up their three night engagement with a bang.
The three hour plus show was composed of 28 songs — and still fans will complain he didn’t sing “Glory Days” or some other nonsense.
But it was hit after hit with my favorite, “Spirit in the Night,” making a second night comeback (it’s rarely heard) plus all the hits from “Born to Run” to “Rosalita” and the majestic “The Rising” to “Dancing in the Dark” and ending this exhilarating, exhausting night with, of course, “Jersey Girl.”
The audience was, of course, so loud and so wildly happy there were times when their shouts of “Bruuuuuce” were even too much for the star. “Don’t Bruce me when I’m talking!” he joked when he was interrupted during one of his speaking moments.
I liked the fact that Bruce left out “Born in the USA” — too much misinterpretation of that song. But holy moly — this gang is still rocking after blazing through stadiums and arenas since I saw them on April 1st — and there are still 8 more BIG shows to go before an autumn break!
