Biden Fundraiser with David Letterman on Martha’s Vineyard on July 29th: Will Obamas Show or Snub?

All this talk of money drying up for the Biden campaign. And yet.

The Biden campaign is coming to Barack Obama’s backyard of Martha’s Vineyard on July 29th. First Lady Jill Biden will host a massive fundraiser there, which will, of course, include the President.

Of all people, David Letterman is the draw. He apparently (and smartly) has endorsed Biden.

But the real drama will be the appearance or absence of Barack and Michelle Obama. They live right there on the tiny island. If they don’t show, it will be considered a sign and a snub. Being “away in Europe” will sting.

Obama, it should be noted, has been a guest on Letterman’s Netflix show. So that may be a sign, as well.

Other organizers include Hawaii Gov. Josh Green and his wife Jamie Kanani Green, Kenneth and Dede Feinberg, Carol and C. Bernard Fulp, Eric Green and Carmin Reiss.

The address of the event, for now, remains hidden, but I imagine it’s at one of the homes of the people mentioned.

Martha’s Vineyard is a curious mixture of wealth for both whites and Blacks. One of the hosts is Bernard Fulp, 87 year old wealthy and influential Boston banker, who is Black. The Feinbergs are among the top Vineyard set. So this fundraiser is being planned carefully.

Letterman should attract a number of celebrities to event, like Carly Simon.

But the big question mark is the Obamas. They will be the bellwether for the continued existence of the Biden campaign.
