2020 Golden Globe Nominations: Clint Eastwood’s “Richard Jewell,” “Little Women,” “Bombshell,” “Cats,” All Snubbed, “Irishman” Sweeps, “Parasite” Stays in Foreign

Share

We’re live updating the 2020 Golden Globe nominations begin at 8amET/5amPT. Keep refreshing…

So far, the Globes have included “The Farewell” as a foreign language film. At the Oscars it didn’t qualify because it was produced by Americans. The other big news is that three of the five screenplay nominations are from Netflix. Wow. And they all deserve it.

Clint Eastwood’s “Richard Jewell” was snubbed except in Best Supporting Actress, for Kathy Bates.

“The Irishman” swept all its categories including Best Picture, Director, 2 supporting  actors, screenplay.

Netflix got the lion’s share of nominations. Three of the top 5 movies are from their studio. They are “Marriage Story,” “Two Popes,” and “The Irishman.” The other two are “1917” and “Joker.” Those are the top 5 movies for the Oscars, I think.

Congrats to Annette Bening for picking up a Best Supporting Actress nomination for “The Report.”

No “Little Women” except for Saoirse Ronan, no directing or supporting nominations. Quite stunning. Also, Warner’s “Just Mercy” totally left out.

And no “Cats.” The HFPA saw “Cats.” Only Taylor Swift’s song survived.
